Peabody has been keeping us entertained again. The other day, it rained, fairly consistently, the entire day. Did he find shelter? Nope. He sat on the back of the pickup all day. He was soaked, and I’d have been miserable and unhappy, but he didn’t seem to be. His coloring is different when he’s wet, but just as beautiful. Rather than appearing to be blue, his neck feathers appear to be more green! There was another day where he sat on the back deck railing the entire time that it rained, too.
He has to have been raised by a human, maybe a female. He’ll willingly come within 4 feet of me, but not quite as close to my husband, but at the same time, he doesn’t spend quite the same amount of time feeding him bread and other fun treats.
He’s gotten pretty comfortable with the human-created stuff around the property, too.
He hasn’t been quite as sneaky lately, not sneaking up behind me while in the garden, although he has “stalked” the kids a bit, and has been within 10 feet of the kids while they’re on the swing set. Everyone gets a kick out of seeing where he is in the mornings, and its been fun to watch his behavior around the peahen pen. She’ll be left out to roam during the day soon. Peabody wants to be near her, and sometimes gets almost frantic to be near her.
He also likes to hang out with the chickens, big or little. He doesn’t seem to harm them and almost acts paternal toward the peeps, “chasing” squirrels and such away by fanning his tail.
And, if you’re amused by Peabody as much as we are, here are a few videos for you!
Here he’s sneaking around on the roof….
And here he’s hanging with the chickens, just a little bit away from me. 🙂
