Happenings at DB Impressions bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

I'm supposed to write something about myself here...which I'm not good at! I'm Diane, a lifestyle portrait photographer in the Palmyra, PA area. I first really got into photography so that I could stop taking my kids to the "box" studios for their images...and I wanted good action shots. As I started learning some of the basics of how to use my camera and the light around me, I really became intrigued...and here I am today, creating what I hope are images of a lifetime for my clients. Some of my favorite sessions are seniors and babies and I enjoy making people look good in intimate sessions as well (these are featured on a separate blog).

Sara and Keith’s Family {Lancaster, PA Family Photographer}

This past week, I put out a call for anyone who wanted a session. Only request was that it be outside and THAT weekend. I’m weird quirky like that. Just how I roll. Anyway, Sara responded that they’d love to and after a little bit of discussion, we decided to meet that night at one...

Fun little contest! – WINNER!

Some of you already know that in my “spare” time, I make soap. One of our kiddos has sensitivities to commercial cleansers and soaps, so I began making our own about a year, maybe 2 ago. And frankly, I love to do it.
I love to make soap, and I love to give things away. This...

Awesome! Congrats Amy! I’m sorry I didn’t have time to count out the winners and announce that as well as the number! Your package will go out in the next day or two, and I hope you absolutely love them!

Amy M. - December 6, 2009 - 2:12 pm

Yay! I’m number 8!! Woo-hoo!!

Heather W. - December 5, 2009 - 12:38 pm

I like to find the right gift for the right person. Sometimes it is easy, but sometimes it takes a while. The best part is watching them open their gift, and seeing them smile and have their eyes light up.

admin - December 5, 2009 - 2:21 am

The contest is now over (well, has been for 2 hours, but I forgot to come post!)! Keep an eye out for the winner, I’ll “draw” in the morning!

becca - December 4, 2009 - 5:32 pm

I love to give handmade items! (Not usually handmade by me, more like etsy handmade) Etsy is definitely my favorite place to shop for a gift for ANYONE!

Heidi - December 4, 2009 - 5:04 pm

Hmmmm, my favorite thing to give is things I’ve made, although besides cookies I haven’t made much this year…

susan - December 4, 2009 - 4:02 pm

I love to give chocolate (probably because I love to receive it!). :D

Michele Rae - December 4, 2009 - 1:46 pm

I love to give anything handmade. Usually handmade greeting card sets, hair bows for the little ones or handmade jewelry! The receivers always appreciate the added effort too!

The Fabric Floozie - December 4, 2009 - 11:57 am

We celebrate the Icelandic Yulemen/Trolls since I grew up in iceland. Purchasing gifts for my children to find in their shoes from the trolls is a favorite :)

PK Smith - December 4, 2009 - 11:39 am

My favorite thing to give is candles. I make my own soy candles and my family really loves receiving them. I usually make up several different scents and colors, package them up all christmasy and let people choose what they want. Unfortunately this year that won’t be happening as I’ve moved to far away from them and had to put my candle making stuffage into storage. My favorite place to shop online for others is Bed, Bath & Beyond. I still have my thinking cap on as to what to get and send for my family this year.

Paula - December 4, 2009 - 11:20 am

I love to find unique gifts for my friends and family. Extra things that make life fun, that we might not think of buying for ourselves. For my prime and proper friends or us that are trying, in the past it’s been crystal letter openers, personalized stamps and etc. For my husband, it’s finding things he would want before he has discovered the item. For mom, it’s been perfume as someone has already mentioned, or fancy sheets that she would never buy herself. I like shopping at mom and pop boutiques. That’s where you can find wonderful one of a kind items.

tammy - December 4, 2009 - 11:07 am

I love to shop for stocking stuffers.. especially for my hubby.. he loves his stocking!!!

Dina - December 4, 2009 - 10:45 am

I also love stocking stuffers! and giving homemade gifts, especially food gifts.

Amy M. - December 4, 2009 - 10:38 am

My favorite thing to give is baked goods. I love baking, but my husband doesn’t like homemade baked goods (I know, he’s crazy!!!), so I don’t do it often. For my kids teachers, I buy cute Christmas trays and fill them up with goodies!

Jessica C - December 4, 2009 - 10:07 am

I think my favorite person to give to is my husband. Don’t have a favorite thing to give him as it changes every year, but he is truly selfless during the year and makes sure his family has before he does, so I alway enjoy giving him something special and meaningful.

Favorite online place to shop is Etsy hands down!

Kirsten - December 4, 2009 - 9:13 am

I don’t know if I can pick one thing!! I really love the fun of choosing surprises to go into the stockings. This will be the first year my girl will have an understanding of the “Santa stocking” so I’m looking forward to stuffing it with many goodies. I should mention I am married to a real life “Clark Griswold” so stuffing his stocking will be just as much fun ;)

Sarah - December 4, 2009 - 8:56 am

I don’t have a favorite thing to give, but I love shopping for my kids. Nothing is better than their excitement on Christmas morning when they open their gifts. I’ve found some cute things for them from Land of Nod.

Abbie - December 4, 2009 - 8:55 am

I think my favorite thing is stuffing stockings for my kiddos. I love all the tiny little goodness that can fit in a stocking!

Sara - December 4, 2009 - 8:32 am

Every year it’s different, but I love finding the perfect thing for each person. Something they need – or is just fun – but suits their personality and shows thought on my part. Sure, I send out some gift cards here and there, but even those are tailored to the recipient (like Dad, who likes to buy his own golf equipment, but doesn’t like to put out the cash, will be getting a gift card to Dick’s this year instead of the usual polo shirt.)

Melissa - December 4, 2009 - 2:09 am

My favorite thing to gift is homemade items: aprons, breads, knitted toys, baby items o’plenty! I really love making things and LOVE the look when I tell them that I made it!!!!

Lisa B - December 3, 2009 - 10:20 pm

WHY have I not visited this site sooner? but what a great way to start…I LOVE soaps!!!

Okay okay let’s get serious here… My most favorite gift to give is cologne or perfume, because I had a few friends buy me a nice perfume and EVERY time I put it on, I think of them. I want people to think of me. I don’t have anyone person that is special, I just love to give gifts, we still give gifts to our neighbors. Love to shop at J.Crew…for anything, anytime :-) Thanks for the cool contest!
